The United Nations system in Samoa hosted a soft opening for its new premises at Tuana’imato, referred to as the One-UN House on Friday, 3 November 2017. The building previously housed the UN Secretariat to the Third International Conference on Small Island Developing States held in 2014 in Samoa.

The Government of Samoa, the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat and the UN system hosted Pacific Islands Country Representatives in Apia on 1 and 2 November to discuss the delivery of the Pacific Roadmap for Sustainable Development (PRSD). The Roadmap was endorsed by Forum Leaders at the 48th Pacific Islands Forum meeting held in Apia in September.
Samoa is ready to IMPRESS with launch of large-scale renewable energy project

As officials gather in Bonn for the annual COP climate talks, the Government of Samoa and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) today officially launched a multi-million dollar project (dubbed “IMPRESS” - “Improving the Performance and Reliability of Renewable Energy Power System in Samoa”) to enhance sustainable and cost-effective energy production in the Small Island Developing State.

Samoa Receives 28 Grants for Environmental Projects

Twenty-eight applicants from Upolu and Savai’i were awarded grants through Operational Phase 6 of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The opening of the inception workshop for the nineteen recipients of grant awards in Upolu was held this morning at the TATTE Convention Centre, following the workshop in Savai’i on 31 August 2017 where nine successful applicants signed grant documents.

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) today announced the find of the Olive small-scaled skink Emoia lawesi by a member of its Ridge to Reef (R2R) project team.
Discrimination against women: First mission ever to Samoa by a UN human rights expert group
